What we collect

Who sees what
Sellers see the orders placed with them: what was bought, the delivery address and the recipient's phone number, because they cannot send a parcel otherwise. They do not see your browsing, your searches, your other orders, or anything you bought from anybody else.
Riders and couriers see the delivery address and the recipient's number for the parcel they are carrying, and nothing else.
We see everything above, and use it to run the marketplace, resolve disputes and stop fraud.
Google sees how the app and website are used, as our analytics provider — see below. Not your phone number, name, email, addresses or what you ordered from whom.
Nobody else. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
Processors we use
- Safaricom (M-Pesa) — takes the payment. They see the amount and the paying number.
- Africa's Talking — sends the texts. They see the number and the message.
- Cloudflare — stores product images and stream recordings.
- Google (Firebase) — delivers the app's notifications, and measures how the app is used (Google Analytics). For notifications they see your device's notification token and the message. For analytics they see the screens you open and what you do in the app (for example joining a stream or placing an order, with its value), your phone's model, system and app version, an approximate location worked out from your connection (city, not address), an identifier for this install, and your account number so two phones of yours count as one person. On Android they may also use your phone's advertising ID to estimate age range, gender and interests, which we only ever see as totals across many people. On this website, and only after you agree, they see the pages you open and what you do on them, your browser and device type, an approximate location, and a random identifier kept in a cookie — never for adverts. They never get your phone number, name or email from us. How Google uses this data.
Cookies on this website
Ones the shop needs — keeping you signed in, your basket, your saved items and compare list, and remembering your answer about analytics. Always on, because the shop does not work without them, and never shared with anyone.
Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_…) — only if you tap
“That’s fine” when we ask. They let us count visits and see which
pages work. Kept for up to two years. Change your mind at any time with
Cookie settings,
also at the foot of every page; saying no removes them.
Your controls
Turning a signal off in What you see stops it being used, not just hidden. Deleting your history deletes the rows.
App analytics. To stop Google estimating your age, gender and interests from the app, turn off ad personalisation at My Ad Center, or delete your phone's advertising ID (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads). On iPhone the app never asks to track you, so it has no advertising ID to use. Usage that cannot be tied to you — screens, taps, totals — is still counted.
How long we keep it
Orders, payments and invoices are kept for seven years, because tax law requires it. Browsing and search history is kept until you delete it. Sign-in codes are deleted once used or expired. Stream recordings are kept for 30 days unless a seller keeps them longer. App usage measured by Google Analytics is kept for 14 months, then deleted by Google.
Deleting your account
Ask us and we will delete your account. Your orders are anonymised rather than removed, because we are required to keep the financial record — but your name, number, addresses and history go.
